7.2 How to Create Your Shipping Plan in
Amazon Seller Central

Now that you have gathered the necessary information, it’s time to set up your shipping plan and create your shipping labels to send your first inventory to Amazon’s fulfillment centers.

Here’s a Step by Step Guide to Creating Your Shipping Plan

Step 1 – From your Seller Central click on Inventory from the menu bar.

Step 2 – You should now be on the Manage Inventory page

Step 3 – Check the box to the left of your product. There will only be 1 item in there.

Step 4 – Above this, Now the button will say Action on 1 Selected. Click on this.

Step 5 – Select Send/Replenish Inventory from the dropdown list.

Step 6 – In this screen, ensure Create a New Shipping Plan is selected.

Step 7 – From this screen you’ll need to enter the following

  • Enter the originating shipping address (the shipping address of your supplier). If necessary click on “Ship from another address” to enter a new address.

  • Select the packing type, (case packed or individual products)
    • Case packed: When all your products have the same ASIN. (Select this option).
    • Individual:­ When products in a box have different ASINs and conditions.

Step 8 – Complete the Set Quantity tab.

The next step in creating your shipping plan is going to the 'Set Quantity' tab. - From Zero To Liftoff Amazon FBA course
Enter the following:

  • “Units per Case”
  • “Number of Cases”
In the 'Set Quantity' tab, select the 'Units per Case' and 'Number of Cases'. - From Zero To Liftoff Amazon FBA course
  • The Total Units will automatically calculate based on our entries above. Ensure this matches to the total number of units you are shipping to Amazon. For example 125 Units per Case with 4 as the Number of Cases, results in 500 Total Units.

Step 9 – Click on Continue

Step 10 – You will then be reminded of the FBA prep requirements.

  • If your product is already packaged, as most will be by your supplier (recommended), click on “Continue”.
  • If you’d like Amazon to package your product (not recommended), ie: put it in a polybag, click on the “Prep may be required” tab.

  • Under ‘Who preps?’ select “Amazon” from the dropdown list.

  • Click “Continue” to move to the Label Products page.

Step 11 – Under Who Labels? ensure Amazon is selected. If not change it.

Step 12 – Click Continue to move to the Review Shipments page.

Step 13 – Review & Click Approve Shipment/s.

  • Amazon will now advise you where they’d like the incoming inventory sent.

Step 14 – Click on Work on Shipment.

Step 15 – Under Shipping Method select Small Parcel Delivery.

Step 16 – Under Shipping Carrier select your carrier.

  • If you have a local supplier in the US, we recommend you select Amazon-Partnered Carrier (UPS). You can select to use your own carrier by selecting “Other carrier” but we don’t recommend it.
  • If you’re using an international supplier, select your carrier in the “Other carrier” menu. You can only use the Amazon-Partnered Carrier if your shipping from the US.

Step 17 – Enter your Shipment Packing.

  • “Number of boxes”
  • “Box weight (lb.)”.
  • “Box dimensions (in.)” in inches.

Step 18 – Shipping Charges

  • You may see a Shipping Charges field here. If you do, click on calculate and the cost of shipping will auto populate. Then click on Accept Charges.

Step 19 – Shipping Labels

  • Under ‘Shipping labels’ click on Print Box Labels. A PDF will appear. Save this PDF to your computer. You’ll need to email it to your supplier.

20. Finally, click Complete Shipment.

  • Repeat from Step 14 for any additional shipments.

Final Step

  • Once all shipping labels have been created, you will now finish on the Summary page. Here you will get a summary of shipment addresses, contents, status, tracking information.

You are making great progress! After creating your shipping plan, you need to forward the shipping labels Amazon gave you to your supplier. You supplier should add these labels to your shipment to ensure it is accepted when it arrives at Amazon’s fulfillment centers.
