One of the greatest things about Amazon is that they do most of the heavy lifting for you and provide an endless stream of traffic for the most optimized product listings.
But, once you have optimized your listing, if you are serious about building your brand equity, you also need to show a presence outside of Amazon, and building a website for your product adds an additional point of reference for your customers. This will give you added credibility in the eyes of your customer but also Amazon. For example, without a link to an active website that displays your products, you can not apply for Amazon’s brand registry program.
